House Database of Verified Bush Administration Lies
All the information you need to know about what they said. This is an actual effort by a Representative to make a factual database of actual lies by the current administration, as opposed to half-truths and bad facts and intelligence, which have been purposely omitted. This is as unbiased and rational as it gets, and is on the House of Representatives own website.
IMO, this is the best single database out there that shows that the current administration is not just lying, but is actively trying to subvert the democratic process for their own personal and political gain. IMO, every one of these people should be arrested and tried for criminal activity.
They are really no different that the robber barons of a hundred years ago - and the level at which they are unashamedly pillaging everything in their path is apalling.
Yet people still vote for them because the media is in bed with them and know only what they are told.
Bill Moyers on Freedom of the Press
An amazing exerpt of Bill Moyers on how the media and government are destroying our free press and thereby our system of democracy.
Democracy Now
Read the headlines for May 13. This is a serious assault on our personal freedoms and isn’t some behind the scenes conspiracy, either - it’s bold, and in our faces. Nixon had nothing on these people in terms of lying, and McCarthy in his dreams couldn’t have imagined a better outcome.
Headlines:
- CIA Sets Up Secret Detention Centers “To Make People Disappear”
- Powell: Bush & Rumsfeld Saw Red Cross Prison Reports
And it just goes on month after month like this. Not a few isolated problems, but hundreds of apalling violations of the ideals that our country was founded upon.
A few other gems from the last month alone:
- U.S. Assassinates Two Shiite Clerics Organizing Nonviolent Resistance
- Cheney Secrecy Case: Is the Supreme Court Allowing the US to Turn Into an Elected Dictatorship?
- Supreme Court Grills Gov’t Over Guantanamo Bay Detentions
- Did Bush Cut Secret Oil Deal With Saudis Ahead of 2004 Election?
- Bush Appoints Negroponte Iraq Ambassador
And it goes on and on.
I personally applaud Will for contributing to Kerry’s campaign, as even if he is part of the same group that is creating the current mess, the reality is that party politics and infighting will cause the Republican controlled Senate and House to stonewall the executive office, which may give us time to reign them in or at least keep the damage to lower levels.
When you have a choice between two bad candidates, the right thing to do is to change the power structure as often as possible to limit the damage until a good one(hopefully) comes along. Kerry(or Gore) would at least have not managed to get our allies angry at us and burnt so many political bridges with potential partners and countries that we are hoping to help become more democratic. At least Kerry won’t stick his foot in his mouth every other week and tarnish our image even further. That’s why I support him - he at least will know when to keep his mouth shut and work with our allies.
(after reading the archive above of verified lies)
I no longer view anyone who can vote for Bush to be an intelligent or informed person. Sorry - it’s almost like trying to talk to a flat-earther. At a certain level, their lack of enlightenment is insurmountable. They just fail the litmus test for rational thought and objectivity and are pointless to even talk to most of the time. It’s like trying to convince a cat that planes can fly.
I don’t even talk to my parents about politics anymore because I see them as all but defective mentally because of their blind faith in their party-approved leader. They *literally* see no evil and hear no evil, even though they plainly can see the facts in front of them and also lived through Nixon and other corrupt administrations and should know better. So, like the flat-earther kook - they aren’t enlightened enough to have a rational discussion with anymore. Yes, they also listen to Rush Limbaugh, as expected. Sigh.
