This page will remain the same without further updates as a shrine to my first attempt at a MAME box, now long gone. The Tempest conversion will be documented at http://irace.net/tz/.
Update 12/2/2005:
The Super Sprint never got finished. The CPU was too underpowered to play the games I wanted (Rampage World Tour, the Mortal Kombat series), I got stalled on the control panel design, and most importantly the cabinet was too bulky to move when we relocated to Portland OR.
So now I'm working on a Tempest conversion. More to come.
Update: June 11, 2002
This used to be a Super Sprint.
Enzo gets to play it even though it's not finished.
A look at the bottom. The cabinet's bottom, not
Enzo's! The pedals still work, so someday I can make this a driving MAME
box.
The control panel and speakers. I'm going to set the speakers back and put the original Sprint's grille over them. Those three coin clots might figure prominently in the design of the artwork, no?
The screen area. This is screaming for a custom mask around the monitor. It's also screaming for a 19" monitor instead of the 17" that's in there now. (Enzo is playing Altered Beast.)
Another view of the cab.
Yet another view of the cab.
Here's the monitor mask that was originally in there.
The back--computer guts!
